A Ride On The Moon

I licked the rust
off the tin roof
to see if it had
the same taste
as a life long ago
I found where
the truth really lies
I watched it land
next to the
silver spoon
So purposefully missed
I touched the drop
with the tip
of my tongue
Hoping to find
a sweetness
that did not exist
I thought I'd be
lost in the wind
without the stone
that held me
so tight
And now
I walk in the river
Let the water
warm my heart
and wait my turn
for a ride on the moon
